Sorare — Summary of the latest updates & improvements over the past 60 days!
It’s been a while, so where should I start? Real-time scoring? Weekly Prize Pool increasing by 5x? New Card Scarcity? Major ‘Gaming Arena’ upgrade? The games first Legend Card?
Let’s get a big one out the way first after which I’ll cover all the above and more!
NEW Teams to have joined Sorare
Since Atlético, Valencia and Schalke were announced in late November, the team have continued to sign-up and deliver some of the biggest European clubs onto the platform.
Managers are now able to collect and play with licensed cards from the Portuguese Primeira Liga; Benfica, Sporting CP and Porto, from Ligue 1 in France; Lyon, Nantes, Saint-Étienne and Lille and from Italian’s Serie A; Roma and Napoli.
These incredible agreements have added a new wave of football superstars to the platform as well as a new generation of Sorare Managers thanks to each clubs reciprocal PR.
FREE cards for New Managers
Once you’ve played the game for a few days, like most things, navigating the platform becomes second nature. But, for those first few days, it’s nice to have a helping hand.
Starting back in December a new scarcity of card was created with the specific goal of helping to introduce the game to first time managers who sign-up.
The new white (common) cards carry no value and are not blockchain cards (like all the main scarcities) BUT, they do a great job of helping a new manager to learn the basics of the game.
After registering, you are greeted with a FUT like team selector to pick your team of 5 and then you visit the Gaming Arena to enter your team into the next ‘Rookie’ Division tournament.
The Rookie Division is only open to new managers, so that you only compete with managers with the same level of experience as you. You can remain a Rookie Manager for 4 weeks during which time you can unlock achievements and win Rare Player Card prizes if you finish in the Top 3.

Gaming Arena Upgrade!
The home for all Sorare Managers (when they aren’t scouring for deals on the transfer market!) has been given a UI and visual update in 2020.
Thanks to manager feedback, there team continue to implement and deliver regular improvements and updates. And, with the addition of new shortcuts to previous score data and upcoming fixtures along with a nice pitch visual for your cards to sit on, everything comes together to give a more authentic feel to selecting a Fantasy Football team.
Real-Time Scoring
Again, for those that have played the game for a while, to think that we used to wait til Wednesdays (sometimes Thursdays) to find out the scores and who won the previous weekends tournament is crazy!
Fortunately, this is now behind us and over the last couple of weeks, I’d argue this is the biggest and best change since the game was created!
The main player card pages now contain more detailed statistics and chart the last 5 games form and in-game stats. Scores now appear shortly after matches finish and a final cross-check of scores takes place on Monday mornings before the Game Week Tournaments are closed and the winners announced!
Being able to have this type of information now available within the platform is invaluable and I can’t wait to see the player stat pages evolve further in future iterations.
Weekly Prize Pool Increased by Five (5) Times!
As more teams are announced and as more managers sign-up to play, these bring a healthy increase to the total amount of weekly player card auctions.
From averaging about 100 auctions per week 3–4 months ago, there are now consistently over 300 new player cards on auction every week with the resulting revenue elevating the game consistently into the Top 10 of dApp games (by volume).
Big Step up in Prizes
With the All-Star Division 1 top prize now being 1.92 ETH per week and the top Division 2 prize being a Unique card, it is no surprise that the games leading cards are now selling and trading hands regularly for between 5–10 ETH each.
Even if you don’t finish in the main podium positions, if your team outscores the weekly minimum point totals you will also win a player card prize to improve your collection.
Another major bonus is that all prize cards now are players that have started at least 3 of their last 5 matches and are in the upper % of point scorers in the whole database.
The change to distributing prizes this way is to help managers progress faster up the SO5 Divisions.
Cards for All Budgets
Whilst the Unique cards will always grab the headlines, we’ve also seen records being set recently for Rare and Super Rare card sales values, however, the supply of new cards is always carefully monitored to welcome managers with varying budgets.
I would be confident of helping a new manager build a solid Rare team (suitable for Div 4) for between 0.15–0.25 ETH and a with a bit of careful planning a full team of solid Super Rare players (suitable for Div 2) could be assembled for 1.5–2 ETH.

Summary / What’s Next?
To wrap up this article, I think I’ll leave it to you to draw a conclusion about the health of the game and the direction it is heading.
There are rumours of a brand new league entering the game in the very near future and as their current Twitter banner advertises, there are ‘New Clubs Every Week’
I’ve waxed lyrical about this game now for almost 1 year (Happy Anniversary!) and I can’t see this changing anytime soon.
